Review | Herbline Essentials apricot & honey face scrub

If you are following me for some time, you know I love discovering local brands. I was offered this face scrub at a bloggers' event and I was excited to try it out when I read more about the brand. Herbline Essentials is a Dubai-based natural-cosmetics company that aims to provide cosmetics made with natural and Ayurvedic ingredients -some of them are sourced in the Himalayas. They offer a long list of products from skincare to haircare - all paraben, paraffin and cruelty free - that you can find in most pharmacies in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It is said to be of 100% natural and organic ingredients.

Si vous me suivez depuis quelques temps, vous savez que j'aime particulièrement découvrir des marques locales, où que je sois. J'ai reçu ce soin exfoliant visage à un événement entre blogueuses et j'avais hâte de le tester après en avoir su un peu plus sur la marque. Herbline Essentials est une marque de cosmétique émiratie qui propose des produits fabriqués à base d'ingrédients naturels et ayurvédiques dont certains sont issus des montagne de l'Himalaya. La marque offre une large gamme de produits, pour le visage et les cheveux, que l'on peut trouver dans la plupart des pharmacies à Dubai et à Abu Dhabi. Tous les produits sont sans paraben, sans paraffine et cruelty free. La marque prétend aussi proposer des ingrédients bio et naturels.




The ingredients: spring water, coco palm wax, clay blend, sunflower oil, maize, honey, apricot oil, walnut shell, aloe vera gel, natural fragrance, sodium benzoate, phenoxyethanol.

The main problem for me is that there is no label to certify it is organic although the brand claims otherwise. This being said, the composition is interesting: hydrating agents (honey and aloe vera), scrubbing tool (walnut shell), purifying ingredient (clay). The presence of phenoxyethanol, a chemical conservative, is also a disappointment because it is known as toxic at a certain amount, amount that is fully respected here yet I'd have preferred it wasn't part of the ingredients (personal opinion).

Le souci que je rencontre est que ce n'est pas certifié bio bien que la marque prétende le contraire. Ceci dit, la composition est intéressante: des agents hydratants (miel et aloe vera), un agent exfoliant (coques de noix broyées), un ingrédient purifiant (l'argile). Par contre, la présence du phenoxyethanol est une déception parce que c'est un agent chimique reconnu comme toxique à une certaine dose, dose qui est respectée ici mais j'aurais préféré qu'il n'y en ai pas du tout. 

The short videoclip gives you a better insight into the packaging and the texture. It contains very small granules to do the scrubbing, which is a good point: it is indeed important for this kind of product to be gentle, skin-friendly. You don't want to lose half of your face with the clay, do you? 

I've been using the apricot and honey face scrub every week either as a mask or as a simple scrub depending on my needs and everytime I felt my skin refreshed and cleansed afterwards without leaving a burning sensation. You can trust me on that point, I struggle with my pores everday but I can finally cleanse them when needed without using a harsh product. Plus, you don't even need a lot of product to cover the face. And it smells clay / wet soil, I love it. 

Conclusion: I like this product for all the positive aspects liste above, I can definitely purchase it although I find it too bad there is no label that would confirm the ingredients are organics. 

La vidéo vous donne un meilleur aperçu du packaging et de la texture. Il y a des petits grains pour exfolier et c'est un très bon point parce que la taille des granules est importante: plus c'est petit, au mieux ça respecte la peau. 

J'utilise cet exfoliant visage toutes les semaines, soit en tant que masque soit en tant que simple exfoliant selon mes besoins. Après chaque application, ma peau est rafraichie et purifiée sans laisser de sensation de brûlure. Vous pouvez me croire sur ce point, je galère avec mes pores chaque jour que Dieu fait. Là, elles sont vraiment nettoyées sans que ma peau soit agressée pour autant. J'adore aussi l'odeur de terre mouillée / d'argile. 

Conclusion : j'aime bien ce produit pour tous les bons côtés listés plus haut, je pourrais définitivement en acheter mais je trouve ça dommage qu'il n'y ait pas de label bio pour corroborer les dires de la marque.
