A day at Le Meridien, Fujairah

Here is an idea of what you can do in the UAE once summer is over. Summer here doesn't allow us to enjoy outdoor activities because it is way too hot during this time. Right before we got stuck at home with the unbearable weather, we went to Fujairah for the first time. It was on weekend, we wanted to enjoy the beach in a nice location and after a research online, we decided to go to Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort.

Fujairah is one of the seven emirates, on the east coast, nestled between the Hajjar Mountain and the Gulf of Oman. It takes a 90 minute-drive from Dubai (2 hours if you live around JLT - Dubai Marina) and the journey to get there is easy and pleasant: you can see the desert, the greenery and then the sea.

We arrived at Le Meridien on the morning and we were already on the chill-and-eat mood. The resort is huge but it was well organised so we haven't spent too much time getting our day pass. It costed 150AED per person to access both the beach and the pool, with a towel and the key for the locker. We wanted to book a room afterwards but our sense of responsibility obliged us to go back home by night to our kitty. :)

In any case, I enjoyed every bit of this trip, from the journey to the resort, it felt so good to discover a new place. Honestly, I didn't give much attention to the hotel itself since were there for a day only. The beach is mainly what I was excited about and I haven't been disappointed. The location itself is beautiful, especially the beach which was surprisingly clear and surrounded by the mountains far on the right and the palm trees. Very different from Dubai's artificially-looking beaches. Most of the people were gathered around the pool so we had the beach for ourselves.

We also had snacks by the pool but the food wasn't to be remembered of, as it is often the case in by-the-pool-bars. However, the service was good although the staff were all over the place with all the tourists and residents to take care of. In terms of entertainment and activities, something I would go back for is the scuba diving and water sports. That part of the UAE is extremely interesting for discovering the marine life. It is even possible to take a daytrip to Musandam from there.

The journey back home was very pleasant as the pictures can tell... See you soon Fujairah!
